SBI which is known for State Bank of India, it is the India-based multinational bank which provides financial services. SBI conducts exams in order to fill up the vacancies for Clerk and PO designations every year. Today we are going to discuss the PO posts, SBI occupies approx 2403 seats for PO candidates.

SBI conducts its exams computer based, this exam has two phases which are known as- preliminary and mains. This year SBI will conduct its preliminary exam on April 29 & 30 and May 6 & 7 and as a rule, those Candidates who will qualify this pre-stage will be shortlisted for the mains stage which will be held on June 4, 2017. Candidates who will pass out both pre and mains will be called for the GD round which is Group Discussion & then for the Interview section from July 10, 2017, onwards. 

SBI select candidates on the basis of merit list, aspirants having high ranks in allotment list of SBI PO will be selected for Probationary Officers post. The online registration for SBI PO has begun from February 7, 2017. All the candidates read the notification carefully such as the age limit, academic qualifications etc. and only then apply as required.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates who have their graduation completed from a certified University of India or have the equal qualification certified by the Central Government as on August 31, 2017, are eligible to apply.
  • According to SBI PO 2017, the students pursuing their final year or semester of Graduation are also eligible to apply. However, they must provide a proof of their completed graduation at the time of interview.

Age Limit

A candidate has to complete the age of 21 years and should not be more than 30 years as on April 1, 2017. However, according to the terms of SBI PO 2017, the age relaxation will be provided in the upper age of candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Application Fee for SBI PO 2017-

SBI charges a total of rs. 600 from the candidates of general and OBC including fee and intimation charges and a total of rs. 100 from the candidates of SC/ST and PWD which is intimation charges only. Candidates can pay their fee via different online payment gateways as-

net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card, etc. this payment date will be expired on March 6, 2017, as this is the last date to apply for SBI PO form. Once submitted, the fee is nonrefundable in any case.

Maximum Number of Attempts-

From the year 2010, SBI made the no of attempts essential for all the candidates. So, the candidates who have already applied for the maximum attempts allowed for their categories are not eligible to apply anymore.

General category- 4 attempts

General with PWD- 7 attempts

OBC- 7 attempts

OBC with PWD- 7 attempts

SC/SC (PWD) – ST/ST (PWD)- No restrictions

Selection Process-

For the final selection of SBI PO, there will be three phases- Prelims Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview & Group Discussion.

  • The mode of exam for Prelims and Mains will be online.
  • Candidates having the prelims exams cleared are eligible to appear in the mains.
  • After passing out the mains exams, applicants will be called for GD and interview section.
  • Final selection for the probation will be made on the basis of mains exams, interview, and GD.

Exam Pattern-

Pattern for Preliminary 

  • The Pre-round will have objective type questions for 100 marks & the mode will be online.
  • The duration of the entire Pre-round will be 1 hour.
  • There will be 3 sections: (1) English Language, having 30 questions (2) Quantitative Aptitude with 35 questions and (3) Reasoning Ability with 35 questions.
  • Each question will reserve 1 mark.

Pattern for Mains

  • The Main sections will be based on both Objective type & Descriptive paper for 250 marks and the mode will be online.
  • The mains will have 4 sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude 45 questions, Data Analysis and Interpretation 35 questions, General Economics & Banking Awareness 40 questions, English Language 35 questions.
  • The duration will be 3 hours for Mains.

Penalty for wrong answers-

There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer that is One-fourth of the marks will be deducted as a penalty for each incorrect answer.

Group Discussion round and interview-

On the basis of total marks secured by candidates in mains including both Objective and Descriptive section will be arranged in the order of higher ranks first, then the bank will decide for the candidates to attend the Group Discussion and Interview.

  • The bank will decide the minimum qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview.
  • Candidates who falls under ‘OBC’ category will have to submit the OBC certificate as a proof of ‘ Non-Creamy Layer’.

Releasing of SBI PO Admit Card 2017-

The admit cards will be released by the examination authority for pre, mains, and interview. The admit cards for the preliminary exam will be available from April 15 this year and for the qualified candidates, the admit card for mains will be available from June 22.

In the same way, the mains qualified candidate will be able to download the admit cards for group discussion and interview. You just have to enter your registration/roll number and date of birth. 


Announcement of Result 2017-

The results will be declared separately for each section- preliminary, mains and final.  The result for preliminary will be announced on May 17, so the qualified candidates will be able to appear for mains exam. The results mains exam will be announced on June 19, 2017, and after having the mains qualified, candidates will be called to attend the group discussion and interview.  To stay called for the mains and interviews, candidates have to secure the minimum cutoff marks as decide by the bank.

-The Interview consists the maximum marks of 30, a total of 50.
